Garage Floor Shelter

These durable shelters boast fiberglass bottoms topped with steel sliding doors for secure access. Offering a lifetime warranty against cracking and leaks, they’re crafted from materials built to last over 250 years underground. Designed to integrate seamlessly into your garage floor, these units slide under your parked car, ensuring it straddles the door. This clever design not only creates a convenient entrance from within, but also protects against debris or a collapsed roof blocking access during an emergency. For added security, you can open the door from inside using a  hand operated winch.

Beyond emergency preparedness, these shelters also provide a safe space during home intrusions. Flush-mounted with the concrete, they blend seamlessly into your garage floor.

GF6 Storm Shelter

Our spacious model boasts a generous 4’6″ wide door that stretches roughly 10’6″ long, providing ample entry and exit space. Stepping inside, the interior unfolds to reveal a comfortable 5′ wide by 6’8″ long floor plan, standing 6′ tall. Built-in bench seating flanks both sides, creating a cozy haven for relaxation or conversation. Should the need arise, the central floor space between the benches offers ample room for two people to lie down comfortably.

In terms of capacity, this model comfortably accommodates up to four people per side, with an additional spot in the stairwell, bringing the total potential to nine occupants. However, for optimal comfort and safety, the shelter is officially rated for 6-8 individuals.

Placing your phone near the air vents can allow cell phone service. For added peace of mind, this model comes equipped with a come-along tool stored inside. In case anything ever obstructs the door, you can easily hook it up and pull it open. Just like its smaller counterpart, this model seamlessly integrates with your garage floor, sitting flush with the concrete.

However, due to its larger size, it requires a more substantial 18-yard sand backfill beneath the concrete to prevent settling. Remember, the listed price doesn’t include the cost of sand, as prices vary across locations, typically ranging between $500 and $700.

SS Fiberglass Models

All of the fiberglass models that we sell can be installed in a concrete slab. All of these models require sand backfill, which varies for each model. Depending upon how the customer would like the shelter installed, the door can be installed above or below the slab. We often install these units where the door opens against the wall and is placed in a closet in a corner, beneath the clothes hanging from the hanger.

Opting for a below-slab installation allows for a discreet trapdoor hidden under a rug in your garage, but requires additional ventilation and drainage systems. This includes a ventilation system attached to the unit, with two 3-inch PVC pipes installed near the air vents for proper ventilation and drainage. Due to the complexity of this option, professional installation is highly recommended.
